Friends,
I wanted to take this time to tell you a little about myself. I was raised in Lindsay, a small rural oilfield town in south central Oklahoma. Both of my parents, Bruce and Jill Manning, were born and raised in southern Oklahoma as well, and they still live in Lindsay. I have one brother, Bruce Kyle, who is 25 and now lives in Ada.
I attended school at Lindsay Public Schools for 13 years. While in school I began taking dance classes from the local dance teacher when I was 4 and continued dancing, ballet, tap and jazz until after I graduated high school. In school I was involved in 4-H, cheerleading, band, colorguard, and academic bowl. I was an active member of my church and the youth. I was also very active in the National FFA Organization formerly known as the Future Farmers of America. Being in the FFA has helped shape me to be the person that I am today. I credit a lot of my successes to the impact the FFA and agricultural education had on me in high school. I was a recipient of the prestigious Oklahoma State FFA Degree in 2004 as well, and received several scholarships through the FFA as well.
I graduated from Lindsay High School in May of 2004. I moved to Stillwater for college right after high school to pursue a degree in agricultural education, so that I could hopefully impact the lives of youth through agricultural education and the FFA, the way that I was impacted through these organizations.
I married Mike, my church camp sweetheart of seven years, at the beginning of my sophomore year of college (2005). After being married for about six months, we took on the challenge of raising Justin. While at school, I have tried to remain focused on my studies and my family. I am a member of Alpha Tau Alpha an agricultural education honor society. I have volunteered numerous times for the State FFA Association, and I was a youth sponsor and a praise and worship leader at Calvary Assembly of God church in Stillwater where Mike and I were members.
I was a student teacher at Glencoe Public Schools this last semester. I graduated from OSU on May 3 with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Education. This summer I became a municipal employee for the City of Perkins.
Mike and I are looking forward to what the future holds for us- careers, campaigns, and expanding our family.
