One of the struggles of development is the ability to maintain our home town feel and the
rural way of life. As we expand to meet the needs of our economy we must expand our
health care coverage to include more of our citizens. Mike will fight to maintain our
home-town feel by meeting with local governments as we develop our economy.

                              Employer sponsored health care

"We have to do more to embrace our small businesses which support most of our local
economy. Most employers desire to offer competitive benefits to appeal to qualified
candidates, but the cost of benefits can overwhelm most business owners. We cannot
continue to allow costs to discourage our employers from providing the benefits they
want to give their employees."-Mike Pierson

Plans such as O-EPIC, which provide health plans to those businesses with 25 employees
or less as an Employer & Employee paid plan. O-EPIC shares the costs between the
Employer, State and Federal Governments with a co-payment from the Employee based on
income.

Other Options, A Good Leader Reviews every Idea

Not everyone will qualify for O-EPIC, so we must have an affordable solution. Mike knows
we need a better statewide health plan to help all Oklahoma Citizens receive proper
medication and care at an affordable-reasonable rate. Mike will work against the difficulties
of acquiring insurance while providing a reasonable change in direction from the current
system. We do need to lower premiums and will design policies which help with the burden
of medical costs while not increasing premiums.

As we expand health care coverage, we must also begin to encourage preventative care.
Preventative care helps determine minor health problems before they can become major
complications.

We will keep perfecting what works, and continue to learn about the concerns and
solutions we can implement in the Legislature.

"I want to continue the progress Gov. Brad Henry has made in health care, and expand the effectiveness
of the services we provide to our citizens." - Mike Pierson
